CIMA International Music Competition 2019

The annual CIMA International Music Competition takes place at the premises of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and other major music institutions between 9th and 12th of August 2019. The winner of the Grand Prize, the "Wiener Klassik Preis 2019"  will be selected during a Gala Concert on the 12th of August at the Josef Haydn Saal at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The winners of the professional categories will perform as soloists with chamber orchestra.

PRIZES

 

 

Depending on the points given from the Semifinal jury, Semifinalists can be awarded with a "Talent"; "Artist" or "Virtuoso" Prize. Selected winners will participate in the Gala Concert Round.

Selected winners from categories A,B,C,D,E,F,G will participate in the Gala Concert Round. Participants of the Solo-Categories are obliged to perform the first movement with cadenza of one of the following pieces

Category A:
W.A. Mozart: Violin Concertos KV 218 or KV 219

Category B:
F.A. Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto Op. 1. or C. Ph. Stamitz: Viola Concerto in D.Major

Category C:
J. Haydn: Cello Concerto in D or C Major

Category D:
W.A: Mozart: Piano Concertos KV 467 or KV 466

 

Category F 
W.A: Mozart: Flute Concertos KV 313 or KV 314

Category G
W.A: Mozart: Clarinet Concerto KV 622

Winners of the Ensemble Category E are also eligible to compete for the CIMA Wiener Klassik Preis, but are excluded from a performance with orchestra. Contestants have to perform any work from J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart or L.v. Beethoven.

 

The rehearsals with the International Chamber Orchestra Vienna under the baton of Maestro Otavio Serpa will take place on the 12th of August from 13.00-18.00h.
